Celia has worked at the home of Mrs. Josefa, for 25 years. Mrs. Josefa always says that Celia is like part of the family, because they all love her and even gift her money for her birthday and Christmas. Celia is in charge of everything at the house: she cleans, dusts, cooks, washes, irons, and even brings them quesadillas when they’re watching TV. Celia only has Sundays off and hasn’t been given time off in so long that she can’t remember the last time she took a vacation. Mrs. Josefa told her that she should retire when she turns 65, and that, though they will miss her, that’s the way life goes. But Celia knows that nobody is going to give her a pension or health insurance, so she prefers to keep on working, though her legs hurt all the time.
